origin story

All humans are born creative, and anyone can be an artist — if they believe in their heart of hearts it’s true. That intentionality is a small but absolutely necessary component.Every artist’s story starts when they embrace that mantle. My cosmic realization was made possible by NPR and a love of dancing barefoot. It was Sunday, March 5th, 2017. I was back for the second day of CRSSD Festival after spending the previous day dancing in the fountains and grass, Vans hidden in the shoe bush. I had won the tickets from calling into KCRW (Los Angeles’s NPR affiliate). It was almost golden hour and sunset wouldn’t be too far behind. I was walking from one dancefloor to another when it hit me.“I’m a creative person who does creative things…like an artist. Holy f###. I am an artist.”I’ll never forget that exact moment.I started mulling over the implications immediately; in a way, I still am.I didn’t know where it would lead me; in a way, I still don’t.I started approaching my creative pursuits with intention and opened myself up to the universe itself. In 2019, I took a creative meditation workshop at Burning Man and it woke something in me. I painted my first piece. And then painted a few more times that week, including on a gifted canvas during Rüfüs Du Sol’s sunrise set at Robot Heart, which was my very first painting. It’s all been exponential from there.
